Why doesn't Romania host major art exhibitions? A lack of insurance accounts for a large part of the answer. What is the solution?

In the absence of an art insurance market, museums and exhibition organizers in Romania face three options: turning to foreign insurers at high cost, organizing exhibitions featuring lower-value works, or foregoing large-scale exhibitions altogether, says Cătălin Guriță, a lawyer and director of the WIN for ART Foundation. The identified solutions include creating an art guarantee fund or establishing partnerships between local and foreign insurers, which would reduce costs.
